Shei Wei's Incredible 2-Hour Birth Story

My membrane released on 9th Oct 2008 around 12pm during my lunch time. I called my husband. He was away and very far from my office so he informed my mom to come and picked me to the hospital. Actually I wanted to go home and had a shower first before admitting to hospital but they were all late. Hubby went home to collect the hospital bags and doctor letter and we met in the hospital around 1.40pm.

When we reached the hospital it was lunch time for the doctor. I was admited around 2pm. No surges at all. Nurse checked and found me to be 3cm dilated. So I went to the delivery suite with hubby and waited to give birth. I could still joked with hubby and the nurse somemore in the room. Surges started to get intense around 2.30pm. It was getting more uncomfortable but still manageable without any injection or pain killer. Hubby was giving full support and accompanied me close by my side. The nurse that attended to me kept offering this and that. She asked me to use the nitrogen/oksigen (not sure what was that). My hubby declined and told her I do not need any pain killer. He knew I was determined to have a drug-free natural birth.

After 2 hours of very intense labour, my baby came to the world with joy and healthy. So touching the moments I first met her. Hubby was the one who cut her cord. The placenta came out very soon also. The whole birthing experience was fast and easy for me although there were some painful moments. Once saw my little one, everything was well worth for me :)

I was very much inspired by my friend Bee Ting's birth (a HB mum with 2 drug-free natural births.) In my mind, I always think of Bee Ting having both easy births without drug and I also wanted my birth to be like hers. The course really helped me a lot as well. So, more confidence came and I finally did it too!

During my pregnancy I did exercise often. I went swimming every sunday till 7th month+. Walk the stairs everyday. I stay at 5th floor, my mom at 3rd floor, my in laws at 1st floor. So, wherever I go also need to climb stairs. Maybe these exercises help my labour to become easy, hehe.. :)
