My deepest gratitude to all parents who have generously shared their sacred journey in childbirth. I've been inspired by each and every one of these stories. I hope you will too...
Baby Lee Sher"My hubby and I were both so amazed with my hypnobirth. It turned out almost exactly how I have imagined my birth scenario; except it happened faster, earlier and that I missed receiving my baby by myself as I was not aware she was already out! I am so proud of myself that I did it; I had a total natural birth!! I have been telling every pregnant and non-pregnant girl friend about HypnoBirthing and hope more women will get to enjoy this wonderful process of child birthing without fear and pain. Thanks Wai Han for your guidance, encouragement and most of all your inspiration for my successful natural birth." Read more...

Little daughter RiverWoon Sing wrote a beautiful, heartwarming letter to her daughter River, whom she received lovingly into her own hands...
"Baby, you were about to come out. I knew, because I felt my body's natural pushing urge. You Papa supported me from the back. Assuming a half-squating position, I went along with my body's natural urge. I could feel your hair, your head, slowly glided out... I joyously received you in my hands... and your body followed. Oh, my Baby... I craddled you in my arms. You didn't cry. Your sister was jumping and shouting excitedly. Papa was also full of joy. We gently touched you. Your body was slippery, covered with a layer of vernix. Ah, my child, what a memorable and beautiful first encounter!" Read more...

Baby Iman AyraWhen I received Nadine's sms saying, "birth wai han style. In my mom's toilet!" I just had to laugh out loud, at the same time sharing her joy and ecstasy. Although she said it's unplanned, I somehow had the feeling that this strong lady knew what she wanted, right from the start.
"I leaned back against Shaf and held my baby close to me, savoring the moment with this precious new being...We took pictures and chatted, while admiring our little bundle. In the silence of the bathroom, I got to enjoy and take in my new baby and bask in the afterglow of this birth..I got the peace I had hoped for that I didn't get with my first birth! What a HIGH!!! I felt a zillion dollars after the birth and couldn't get enough of my new baby!" Read more...

Baby Jannatul Ishraqq Janatul is a very 'private' person. She demanded privacy during labour as well. I was amazed by her previous 2 'fully clothed' birth experiences in UK. "Birthing at home would give you the most privacy," I commented jokingly. No, that wasn't her plan, she said. But, I guess baby is all-out to fulfill mummy's birthing wish...
"I could already feel the baby’s head was just waiting to go out. And while standing by the entrance door, clinging to my husband very heavily, I spread my legs wider since I knew my baby couldn’t wait anymore, I did the Birth Breathing two times whilst imagining the opening of rose buds and woosshh… baby slide out under my nightgown..." Baby Ying Huey"We had wanted to be the first one to hold the baby when she is born (I guess my baby knew it too), and she made it happened for all of us. This will be the most precious and unforgetable moment of our lifetime. I am glad that the whole birth process is drug-free and the placenta was birthed naturally. I remember saying we wanted a fast birth in HB class. Well, everything ended in merely 2 hours." Read more...

Baby Arya Safiyya"It was an experience I will never forget… how I felt the perineum stretch, and how it numbed, and how the baby’s head came out, followed by the body… it was extremely empowering! Something I never felt with my first birth. This birth has left me knowing that I can and know how to birth my child if I am allowed to… "
"In short, it was such a peaceful and tranquil birth, I couldn’t have asked for a better one… till this day, I still long for that moment when the gynae passed me my little girl the moment she was out, and left her with me for many hours after that – when she lay in my left arm, covered in blood and vernix… sigh." Baby KhalisShabirah took the course at 36 weeks pregnancy, looking forward to a comfortable birth at public hospital. However, her plans took an unexpected turn and she was kept busy going in and out of hospital checking for availability instead of busy birthing. Despite this, her birth was smooth and easy.
"At 1am, the surges got harder but I can still manage. I kept practising all the breathing techniques. It helps me a lot to control the pain, but I think I forgot to change position as I was too busy controlling the pressure, busy practising the breathing techniques. Between 2 to 4am, the surges came and went, but I can still sleep. It was around 4am when I started to have strong surges. At 6.05am, the baby pop out! :-)" Read more...

Baby Iman Safiyya"After being admitted for 5 gruelling days and having bad experiences in the hospital, we are glad to say we are looking forward to implementing HypnoBirthing again on our future kids. We were nervous, frustrated and in pain due to the non-supportive birthing environment but thanks to Hypnobirthing and our guide Wai Han we were able to handle the situation despite the lack of attention from certain medical officers as we're not guided on what to do while being confined on the bed.
But our bundled of joy was able to be born naturally despite the stumbling block and we were able to do this without the use of painkillers. Baby was alert and bonded immediately. She could understand and responded when I explained the situation and helped her integrate the experience. We are so proud of her. Thanks Marie “Mickey” Mongan for developing such a tremendous course and Thank you Wai Han. We could not have create a much better bond with our baby if it wasn’t for you two. We look forward to another wonderful journey with HypnoBirthing and a much wonderful experience in the future."

Baby Zi Feng"At around 8.30am, we finally saw our baby's head and I kept on encouraging my wife to continue with her breathing and pushing. At 8.43am, I finally received our baby boy with my own hands. With the umbrilical cord intact, I passed to my wife our precious. We felt relief and excited at the same time knowing that we have witnessed the birth of our baby. What a wonderful experience! Within 20 minutes, the placenta was out effortlessly."

Receiving BabyHoi Yan, a 3rd-time mum, emailed me at 37-week with a list of thoughtful questions, preparing for the most gentle welcome for her baby. At 38-week, she wrote, "... hospital birth? Home birth? Can i do it?" At 40-week, she birthed freely at her cosy home, baby slipped into Dad's loving hands. The birth was "transformative" and empowering - a rite of passage for Mum, Dad and Baby.
She titled her story as "A Love Story Rewritten". Here's her explanation:
"Oh... a love story... this is how I feel about my birth. I was so much in love in the process. From the gentle kind care from my hubby. I felt like a queen. All the soups, tonic, hard boil egg... It's not a birth story... It's a love story." Read more...

Baby Maya and placenta
Sher Li and Shang are 1st time parents who are very connected with their baby. They sought a holistic birth for baby Maya and decided on lotus birth (leaving the umbilical cord intact) for a gentle beginning.
"Because of our decision to have a Lotus Birth, Maya’s cord was not clamped nor cut at the hospital. A baby’s cord ought to be left attached as precious nutrients in the placenta should be returned to the baby immediately after birth, in order to boost his/her own natural immune system, instead of administering synthetic vaccinations at the hospital. ... Lotus Birth honours the baby by letting baby decide the best time to let go of his/her placenta." Read more...

Jolly ParentsThis jolly couple from Penang, Cindy & Alvin, took the couse early, around 8-week pregnancy. They are truly committed to a gentle birth and made a lot of effort into finding a supportive careprovider. Mum called me in the morning on her labour day. We chatted and laughed a lot through her surges and I casually suggested her to wait for her appointment at 3pm. Mum listened to her birthing instincts instead. Baby Annabelle was gently welcomed into the world within 2 hours of them arriving at the hospital... before 3pm.
"I have such a wonderful, speedy and gentle birth, I want to give all glory and praise to Almighty God who is in control. Thanks to HypnoBirthing and Wai Han for supporting me. The relaxation method, knowledge and practices during pregnancy all helped to make this birthing an unforgettable and joyous experience." Read more...

Baby Chien Rou"I found out about HypnoBirthing when I was 32 weeks pregnant, recommended by Choy Pheng (thanks to her!) I didn’t manage to go for Wai Han’s course as husband is a very busy man and didn’t have time to go for the course with me. I self-studied. Through the HypnoBirthing book and Wai Han’s answers to my lots of questions, I learnt a lot."
"Every day I told my baby that she was going to come out real easily, and that we would both work well together through labour. And we did! I am very thankful to Wai Han. She has been so helpful and patient. HypnoBirthing is so amazing! I was very pleased with our natural induction method (i.e. lovemaking.) Happy Parents"My membrane released on 9th Oct 2008 around 12pm during my lunch time. I was admited around 2pm. No surges at all. Nurse checked and found me to be 3cm dilated. So I went to the delivery suite with hubby and waited to give birth. Surges started to get intense around 2.30pm. It was getting more uncomfortable but still manageable without any injection or pain killer. After 2 hours of very intense labour, my baby came to the world with joy and healthy. So touching the moments I first met her. Hubby was the one who cut her cord. The whole birthing experience was fast and easy for me although there were some painful moments. Once saw my little one, everything was well worth for me :) " Read more...

Baby Joyce"I would say the whole pregnancy I felt much more comfortable after attended the first class of HypnoBirthing. It somehow empowered me with the knowledge that I do not need to be fearful of childbirth.
I did not get to enjoy fully the techniques which I learned from HypnoBirthing during the birthing because I was overwhelmed with an unexpected kind of surge. It took me about 12 hours to have my cervix dilated to 10 cm and in between I was experiencing surges from 5 min to 3 min apart. But the experience that I love to share is, I was able to go through the whole birthing process without introducing any drugs. I just want to encourage for those who has desire to go through a natural and drug free birthing experience, you just got to believe that it’s possible. I have made it happened. What I got to enjoy now is, my baby Joyce is such a lovable baby who is calm and easy to take care.
Thanks to Wai Han for providing the HypnoBirthing classes in Malaysia, where we can have someone who have experienced to share the knowledge of natural childbirth." Read more...

Baby ShaniaChoy Pheng discovered HypnoBirthing at 35 weeks and determined to have a gentle natural birth and conquer her fears of childbirth despite her earlier birth traumas, emotional baggage and "high-risk" label. Fully trusting her baby, she declined her doctor's offer of induction at 37 weeks. She gave birth to baby Shania in less than 3 hours after arriving at the hospital! Her birth, as she intended, was comfortable, drug-free and gentle.. but most of all, it was empowering and healing.
"I have to admit I was quite calm.. and not so fearful about the labour. Don't know why but I feel connected and closer to this child compared to Shannon. In fact, sometime after the birth in the ward, I had an overwhelming sense of attachment, joy and awe when breastfeeding the baby! After this birth, I kind of feel I want to have more kids (hahahaha..) but I think I might just settle for 2. I should thank you for inspiring me.. I read your 2nd child birth story in the website and felt I want to be fearless about childbirth too! However, I have to admit there were a couple of times I asked myself if I was putting the child at risk by rejecting the advise to go for induction at 37 weeks. The fear of losing a child is still there. I was always praying in my heart to God to make sure this child is delivered safely." Read More...

Big brother Keith & Baby Charlotte"Lorrain, the agent from CryoCord, was so impressed with the way I deal with the labour. She said she has seen a lot of women going into labour and all of them were in pain when they started to dilate till 3cm onwards. She was so suprised that I was so relaxed and calm about it. When she came to the hospital, I have already dilated to 3cm. I was relaxing and manage to chat with her while doing my breathing. I've started listening to my hypnobirthing cd when I've dilated to 5cm. She was so suprised that I laid down quietly and relaxed while doing my breathing. At this time, my whole body was numb. The only place that I can feel is my womb. It's like as though my whole body and mind was focusing into one area. I don't even realised that I have dilated till 8cm when the gynae came and break the waterbag. Which is a bad idea coz' I was so relaxed and suddenly she came and disturbed me. That was the time when the pain was at peak and I can't focus anymore. The nurses were so surprised to see my contraction report on the machine. They said it was so beautiful and they have never seen such a beautiful report before. It is so consistent. Finally, with three pushes, Charlotte was born. No more assistance from medical equipment. Just natural birth for Charlotte. Lorrain even told me that she wanted to practise hypnobirthing when she births next time. I am so proud of myself and never regret in taking up the course. If I were to have baby no.3 in the future, I'll definitely use hypnobirthing again." Read More...

"I only decided to use hypnobirthing for my 2nd birth in my 35th week of pregnancy. I bought the book and decided to self study since I could not make it in time for the course and my hubby was not supportive. I met up with Wai Han who was ever so kind to share with me some tips and lend me her copy of the Rainbow Relaxation cd.
It was already 3 days pass my due date and I started to have surges in the middle of the night. They got stronger but not painful, just uncomfortable. After only about 1 1/2 hours, we decided to go to the hospital and I was surprised to find out that I was almost complete and ready to have the baby! Had to wait 30 mins for the doctor to arrive (it was hard to hold the urge to push) and when the doctor came, it took me only another 15-20 mins to birth my baby boy! I birthed him in an all fours position and my water did not break at all so he was birthed inside the water bag! I cut the cord myself after it stopped pulsating as hubby felt too nervous to do it. It was such a fast and easy labour, gentle but at the same time empowering. I felt euphoric and strong after the birth and recovery was fast! I would definitely recommend hypnobirthing to anyone looking for a completely natural and painless birth." Read more...

Jia Zhuan at birth"Throughout the labour, everything went on smoothly. I had no worries about previous c-section scar rupture as I trusted my body. I applied HypnoBirthing breathing techniques whenever I surged and I was feeling very calm all the time because to me, the whole thing was very natural. I had full confidence with myself that I can do it the natural way. Husband was also very calm as he knew I knew what I was doing and I will ask if in doubt. So, he just stood by beside me. Later, he confessed that he was actually very anxious but as he did not want to spark my anxiety and disturb my concentration, he just stayed quiet and waited if I needed anything. I did not realize I didn’t scream even once during the whole process till now. But I did tell my husband that the surge was very strong and I was in pain, a few times. That was my way of releasing some stress and I felt better after expressing it." Read more...

1 hour after birthChiew Yee had an easy, comfortable, fast (nobody saw it coming), all-natural Hypnobirth, in Serdang government hospital. She birthed in the maternity ward instead of labour room... just as she wanted, planned and visualized! Her bill was around RM20.
"I felt very fresh & awake after the birth. Unlike my previous birth, I was so drowsy for more than 24 hours. I went home on the same day too (12 hours after birth). HB class has given me the confidence and better understanding of childbirth. Childbirth is not so scary after all. Practicing HB also benefited my baby. She is very alert right after birth. Baby Emily"HB had really prepared me to have no fear during birthing. Before the next surge, I asked the nurses to raise the seat so that I could be in a more vertical position to give birth to my baby. I went with my body, and what felt right at that point in time. I was relaxed throughout, and waited for the next surge to come. I breathed my baby down with one last deep breath, and baby was born at 8.10am." Read more...

Esther & Baby Zhi Xuan"Thank you Wai Han for introducing HypnoBirthing to me. This is my third baby and this time by way of HypnoBirthing method. It is totally a different experience compare to the first two births which were more painful. It is a drug-free, less painful, calm and relaxing experience which lasted 24 hours. While waiting for the cervix to open wide enough for delivery I walked around the labour ward, chatted with nurses, had four meals provided by the hospital, watched VCD that my husband brought or listened to the Rainbow CD. Finally I breathed out our little princess Zhi Xuan. She was calm and joyful, her eyes were widely open without crying. Thanks to my husband for his support and for being a great birth companion."

Baby Shermin: enjoying a swim"I was able to handle all the surges on my gym ball as Wai Han taught but during the final hour of active labour, I was thinking in my mind that epidural and c-section wasn't such a bad idea after all... I am successful in having an all natural birth with no sucking and spanking of my baby and intact perineum! My baby gal is quite a good baby except for her temper sometimes. Also, she likes to "talk" to us and always smiling and laughing even during her first month… It is amazing to watch." Read more...

Baby Chloe "My childbirth was totally unexpected; my little Chloe was only 29 weeks, premature for about 2.5 months and was breeched! I did my breathing as learnt from HypnoBirthing classes and I tried to hold back the labor. However, little Chloe just couldn't wait to see this world and receive ang pow from everyone (it was the 2nd day of Chinese New Year). At first I have to give birth through caesarean, eventually I had a vaginal breech birth as my baby's butt came out before the operation – apparently she didn't want us to be cut. About 10 to 15 minutes later, my baby arrived to this world... it was a comfortable birth. Although I did not have a total drug-free birthing as I did breathe in some gas, HypnoBirthing has helped my baby and I a lot where she only needed to be ventilated with oxygen for 1 day and she didn't need any extra dose of lung development jab. My baby was in the hospital for about 2 months to reach a more stable weight. Now she is 4 months plus and with more than 3kg, I am really blessed. Really thankful to HypnoBirthing and Wai Han who supported me throughout my birthing."

Wai Mei & Baby Kath “Little Kath Li was welcomed to this world with full of calmness and joy. Darren and I attended HypnoBirthing classes when I am 21 weeks pregnant. Since then, my pregnancy is so relax till birth even though she’s a breech baby. Although I gave birth to her via Caesarean, HypnoBirthing helped us to be in the most positive and comfortable position. The relaxation method thought me to be calm and I’ve been smiling throughout the operation as I know my baby will be safely in my arms in a few minutes time!! Our bonding is so strong that she stops crying immediately when I call out “Baby, mummy is here”, which amazed the nurses in the room. Naturally, a relax pregnancy leads to a relax birth and now a relax breastfeeding as well. She’s 2 and a half months old weighing 6.5kg now and I am still breastfeeding her exclusively. Thanks to HypnoBirthing and Wai Han for making everything so positive.”

Liz and Baby Edward“I was facing hell from my manager during my pregnancy. Towards the EDD, I started HypnoBirthing class with Wai Han, and that was around the time when I lost my job as well. Through HB classes, I learnt relaxation, and how to have a better control of my body to cope with pregnancy and birth. Through that process, I also get to bond better with my baby. Even though I ended up with surgical birth, I felt much more calm, and empowered compared to the 1st surgical birth I had. Baby Edward is a calm and happy baby. I feel that I also owe it to HB that my body healed well and fast. I was already climbing upstairs without help and vacuuming my room on the 3rd day after birthing. While I didn’t manage to birth my baby ‘naturally’, what I get from HB was much better than the antenatal class I received during my 1st pregnancy. It also touches a lot on how my body is built to handle the whole pregnancy and birth process naturally, hence with that knowledge, I have less fear and feel more in control. Thinking back of what I was going through with my work during pregnancy and closing to EDD, I went for birth and came out a very happy and contented mother, and so is my dear baby.”

Rashidi & Baby Hariz“I first discovered about HypnoBirth when I came across a book on Hypnobirthing, the Mongan Method at MPH MidValley. I flipped through it and found the contents to be fascinating – you can actually use self hypnosis to guide you through a relaxing, almost pain-free natural birth. Back home, I surfed the internet to find out more on this HypnoBirthing method and by chance stumbled upon Wai Han’s website. From then onwards, I was hooked! I signed up for her classes and dragged my husband to it. We definitely came out of it equipped with knowledge on childbirth and feeling confident about having a natural birth. For the record, I was only in labour for 2 hours; the first half an hour of which my cervix opened from 5cm to 9cm without any noticeable pain. Thank you Wai Han for your tremendous support!!”

Elaine & Baby Sammi “HB had provided me with knowledge of what is a safe, relaxed and natural birthing. It is totally different from what I have seen and heard that giving birth is a horrible and painful experience. It furnishes me with preparation in my heart that help me to stay calm and relaxed throughout the labour (though this is my 1st time, the nurses were surprised seeing me walking with my discman—I was actually listening to my rainbow relaxation CD, wondering around their counter!! I even went downstairs to the cafeteria to buy nasi lemak! Ha! Ha!) This can be seen from the steady and stable heart beat of the baby from the early contraction to the very strong ones, right before she was born. So glad that I was able to birth her without the epidural. Though the so-called “CONTRACTION” (we, HB mums called it “SURGES”) became more intense at the final stage, I was able to stay calm and relax because I know that every surge brings me closer to my baby… I was actually getting more excited!!! I would say, my birthing is a very sweet and memorable process, though it takes some hard time for me to convince my doc with the birth plan! I am glad to say that my baby is a happy baby, she laugh/smile more than she cry (many thanks to the rainbow relaxation CD, that I am calm and stable in my emotion during my pregnancy.) She is really the bundle of joy to me, my hubby and our family.”

Jemie & Family: En-Lai, Jemie & baby Sophia “Four days of labour and 17 hours of active labour in the hospital, I only felt pressure on back on (I had a back labour). I didn’t go into a deep trance or time distortion; I just listened to the rainbow CD and used breathing techniques. Plus, it helped that my husband was a great birth companion and my gynaecologist, Dr. Choong fully supported my decision in having a drug free birth. I ‘breathed’ our precious Sophia Grace in the early hours of May 19 2006, weighing in at 3.18kg and I actually enjoyed the whole birthing process. It was so fun. I credit HypnoBirthing in giving me the confidence and clarity in identifying my body’s cue without fear and confusion.”

Wai Yin & Family: Wai Yin, Chee Leong, Xiu Ting “I’ve never expected I could endure such a long labour. My gynae offered induction but I rejected because I wanted my baby to complete her development in utero and have a chance to come out at her own pace, and decide her own birthday. Thanks to HypnoBirthing techniques and the support from the instructor, I was able to give birth to my baby naturally without induction & fear.”
