Sweet Sleep at Home 2 Hours Before Baby Is Born: Lee Yin’s Gentle Birth Experience

√ Comfortable childbirth
√ Natural childbirth
√ No episiotomy
√ Fast postpartum recovery

What Are the Benefits of the Hypnobirthing Course for Me?

For me, the benefit was being able to enjoy a good night’s sleep at home just two hours before giving birth. 😄

I arrived at the hospital less than an hour before the baby was delivered! The entire process was completed without any medication or instruments. (Although the nurse gently scolded me for arriving so late, as I really only started to feel “pain” quite late.)

Although this birth did not meet the initial goals I had set, such as reaching the climax of labor, the breathing techniques really allowed me to rest well before the birth.

After the delivery, although the baby did not crawl to the breast on its own, it started sucking within the first hour.

Reflecting on that night:
Around 9 p.m., I wasn’t sure whether contractions were every 10 minutes or 20 minutes, but after using the breathing techniques and feeling okay, I went to bed with my older child. I vaguely remember having contractions twice while I was asleep, but instinctively using the breathing techniques helped me relax and continue sleeping, likely because the breathing practice had become ingrained in my subconscious.

I woke up around midnight, as I noticed that contractions seemed to be more frequent. After observing for a while, I decided to go to the hospital at 12:30 a.m. After some preparation, I left at 1:30 a.m. Although the pain was quite intense, I managed to endure it until we reached the hospital. My husband had to drive at only 50 km/h due to the car’s vibrations, which was quite uncomfortable. 🤪 By 2 a.m., we arrived at the hospital, and after asking my husband, I learned that the baby was born in less than an hour!

A small additional note:
After my first birth, I was almost unconscious for a day. On the first day, I couldn’t move on my own and had to use a catheter overnight because I couldn’t urinate. The baby was induced with IV fluids (at that time, I didn’t realize it was induction) and received a painkiller injection. For the first three days, the baby had difficulty latching on, but fortunately, we could breastfeed after returning home. Looking back, the baby didn’t smile and had a furrowed brow, possibly due to the medication. 🤨

In contrast, after this birth, I felt excellent. Besides some discomfort from uterine contractions in the morning, I was able to use the toilet on my own after lunch and had regular bowel movements. 😄 The baby began sucking vigorously within the first hour of birth and frequently smiled.

This course cannot guarantee specific outcomes, as results depend on the beliefs of the birthing mother. However, these beliefs are largely influenced by the input we receive.

I am grateful for this pregnancy and birth experience, which provided me with scientifically-based knowledge and helped me reconnect with the natural instincts of childbirth. This made it easier to understand the stages of labor, and I felt more certain and at ease in managing and accepting all situations.

Thank you to Sansan for the thoughtful teaching, the fellow mothers in the class, and of course, my dear husband for his continuous support. 😘

【Mentor’s Note】
I remember Lee Yin mentioning in the final class that her goal was to experience a “climax birth.”

Of course, not only I, but the entire class was excited by this. Later, whenever we discussed her birth, “climax” became one of the key terms.

That day, she sent a message saying she delivered the baby in less than an hour after arriving at the hospital. There was no climax, but the breathing techniques allowed her to sleep well before labor.

As she shared her birth experience, it was clear that she felt much better compared to her previous birth. The baby’s condition was also very good; it was alert, able to breastfeed well, and loved to smile. Whether there was a climax seemed less important.

I am genuinely happy for her.
